On the 11th of September 2021 the Lux team made their way to Perth Townhall for the Perth Games Festival alongside all of the other Murdoch students. We set up our game and encouraged visitors to play and see what they thought of our it!
In the end we had a basic fetch quest, player controller, bullet mechanics, and an enemy AI all working. Most of our play testers said they enjoyed what our game had to offer and added that with a little more polish they think it could be a lot of fun.
In retrospect I think we managed to create a decent build with the time we had, and managed to implement enough of our planned features to get our point across. I think our art style and gameplay loop both really helped captivate players, despite the lack of overall polish. My one regret is that we couldn't get animations working in time, as I feel this would have added to the experience for a lot of the audience, especially younger players who seemed to be put off by them being missing.
